Mark, My Words is a nine-week journey through the Gospel of Mark designed to help you move beyond simply reading Scripture to understanding it, responding to it, and living it. 

Using Dr. David Chotka’s modern paraphrase and devotional, you will enter the fast-moving story of Jesus’ ministry and discover how the words written nearly two thousand years ago continue to speak directly into everyday life.

Before coming to class, work through the assigned devotional readings from Mark, My Words. The modern paraphrase, daily reflections, and questions will help you slow down enough to notice what Mark is actually saying. 

DISCUSS 

Come ready to explore what you have read with others. Together, the class will examine the historical and biblical context behind the passages, asking: 

• What was written?
• What did it mean to the original audience?
• What does the context help us understand?
• How do we faithfully bring that truth into our world today?

Rather than simply being told what a passage means, you will grow in your ability to engage Scripture thoughtfully and understand it within its proper context. 

APPLY 

Mark was not written merely to provide information. It calls for a response. 

Each week you will be challenged to take what you are learning into your everyday walk with Jesus—into your decisions, relationships, priorities, conversations, faith, and obedience. 

You will also have opportunity to share how God is working through His Word in your life.
